Basically, this place is used for the celebration of Meskel(መስቀል) by Ethiopian orthodox church. The name Meskel Square(መስቀል አደባባይ) indicates that the name taken from this basic purpose of the place. Sometimes people do some sports and refreshments.
What an amazing square even in africa, car parkings are underground no car movement is allowed in the recreation place and damera ceremony takes place in it, i recomend every body to visit and recruit ur self, most of the time fast foods coton candy icecream... are available.
